#90. The Year it Snowed on Halloween!

Halloween (and the fall, in general) sure was interesting this year!

This year's indoor costume...Peanuts siblings Sally and Charlie Brown

'Goooooood grief'!!!

Linus (Papa) and Pigpen (Daddy) even joined in the fun!!

In a strange twist of fate, there was a blizzard on Halloween!!

The corner of Hartzell and Walnut in Evanston right at the start of trick or treat time!

When Halloween meets Christmas?!?

Due to the conditions (and much colder temperatures), a costume change was in order for neighborhood trick or treating...so for the outdoor costumes Clare dressed up as a dinosaur and Luke as Ninjago (some ninja lego guy from some lego movie, yeah, I don't get it either?!?)

To be honest, the twins seemed more excited about the snow than the candy...

...but that didn't stop them from visiting houses...

...and filling up their buckets!!

Not sure what was more shocking for the treat giver at this house, seeing snow in the front yard or a dinosaur at the front door?!?

It was definitely surreal scenery around the neighborhood this year...beautiful, snow-dusted 'Howell Park' (across from our house)

A juxtaposition of seasons...colorful fall leaves with a layer of snow

These pumpkins sure caught our attention!!

No political statements back at the steps to our house!

One of our favorite things about fall in Evanston is living so close to Northwestern and the buzz of activity during the Wildcats football season.

This year we attended the 'Meet the Team' night on campus

We had the chance to tour the impressive indoor practice facility right on Lake Michigan

Outside, the twins had the chance to be adorned with eye black from the Wildcat cheerleaders...
...and came home with quite a lot of player autographs

What a fun event!!  The only thing missing was seeing an actual football game...

...which the twins attended a few weeks later...

... with some friends from our neighborhood

Halloween wasn't the only thing this fall affected by bad weather.  A planned camping trip in October was canceled due to freezing overnight temperatures.

So, the twins hosted a sleepover with their camping friends...

...and had fun 'camping' in our yard instead...

...posing with some tombstones...

...and hanging out with some witches!!

While everyone slept indoors, we still managed to pull off Smores on the backyard patio

Weather wasn't an obstacle when we headed down to the city to catch some children's theater in Rogers Park.

The twins definitely enjoyed seeing 'Lyle, Lyle Crocodile' at the Lifeline Theater...

...and even scored autographs...

...and  pictures with the cast after the show!!

These three theater buddies will definitely be back again for more!

As fall slowly came to a close, we made a weekend pilgrimage to see family in Eureka.

Clare helped Grandpa rake his leaves

The twins dug into Daddy's swimming medal stash

Clare enjoyed hanging with her cousin

And we all saw (Great) Grandma Knapp for the last time.  Sadly, she left us at the end of December, so we were thankful for the time to visit with her.

The twins will miss visiting Great Grandma on visits back to Eureka

Thanksgiving was here before we knew it.

The twins enjoyed the holiday and visit with Grandma and Grandpa Knapp

Grandma Knapp always loves seeing (hugging) her grandkids

This turkey and happy (on Thanksgiving Day anyway, not so much the majority of the season!) Bears fan had a great fall and look forward to fun winter times ahead!!
