#51. Let Them Eat Cake!

And then the twins were 1!!

Happy Birthday Luke & Clare!

365 days before...

We took some photos in our courtyard before the big birthday celebration.

Our happy, handsome 1 year old boy

Our happy, sweet 1 year old girl

Clare and Grandpa can't believe it's been a year already

Guess who's already acting like a diva now that she's 1???

We celebrated the twins' birthday with a party at Brixton in the Andersonville neighborhood, site of a baby shower held for us nearly 14 months before.

Didn't take long for the grandmas to gobble up the twins

Papa and Alison sandwich the birthday boy

Amy and Clare havin' some fun with the balloons

Many family and friends came to help wish the twins a Happy 1st Birthday.

A photo video was shown highlighting the twins' first year,

followed by the main events: singing Happy Birthday,

and the 'cake eating contest'!

Special thanks to Aunt Ro for making the cakes and '1' cookies!!

Everyone enjoyed watching these two go to town on the smash cakes!

Both twins were pretty deliberate and delicate with their first cake,

Take your time, Clare...at least she let us put the party hat on!

but things got messy real quick!!

No party hats here, but no messin' around either!!

So much mess that Luke ended up walkin' around in his 'birthday suit'

In the end, sugar highs were had by two happy customers!

After returning home from the party, and a MUCH needed nap, it was time for the twins to tear into all of the presents they received from such generous friends and family.

Did somebody say presents?!?

Not as deliberate here...they were clearly on a mission!

Dad 'tries' to show Luke the importance of
reading the card before opening the gift

Luke was throwin' stuff everywhere!

Uh-oh!  Think this one was actually meant for Daddy and Papa!

It didn't take the twins long to find new things to play with!

These two are just a little spoiled...our poor living room!

Luke took right to one of his new toys as Clare pondered her next move

The next morning Grandpa Knapp assembled the wagon

Thank You, Grandpa!!

Riding/pushing an elephant through the house has become the thing to do

Special thanks to Grandpa Dan and Grandma Steffie for making the trip up from South Carolina for the party.

Another successful visit!

And Grandma Knapp too...busted taking selfies with one of the cameras!

One year down and so many more to go for these two.  It's been an exciting and chaotic year!  We look forward to watching Luke and Clare continue to grow, learn, and be happy in their second year.
